Operator guide book

This is the guide book for operators in Camfrog.com hosted video chat rooms. Please note other video chat rooms hosted by third parties might have different rules and Camfrog.com has no control over them.

Operator Rules

  1. Operators should try their best to be transparent to other Camfrog users and just chat about normal things like everyone else. If you post rules and talk about how you are an op you will sound like an evil oppressor. If someone is breaking the rules IM them to ask them to stop or kick them with a reason instead of chastising them in the room. Nobody wants to talk in a room where some person is on a power trip kicking everyone and bragging about it.
  2. Operators should kick once with a reason if a user is causing problems, but if a user comes back and continues breaking the rules punish them with a reason. Examples:

/kick nickname reason for being kicked
/punish nickname reason for being punished

  3. Help people privately. Operators should not do tech support on microphone or in the chat. Operators should IM users to help them privately if they ask for help. Operators can tell the user to visit the help page or help forum if the answer to the question is not known. The reason for this is because users want to talk and have fun, not hear about some guy can't get his webcam to work. Send users to the help page if you don't know the answer.
  4. An operator shall never kick, ban, or punish another operator unless his account has been hijacked.
  5. Always remind users they can right click a name to ignore them if they don't like what they are saying on microphone or in text. It is not your job to censor what people say on microphone unless it breaks the rules of the room below.
  6. Do not kick or ban users for their nickname unless it is an extremely bad four letter word. If someone calls themselves "sexy" or "hot" do not kick them. Also you should not ever ban users for their nickname, just punish them or kick them with a reason. This will no longer be an issue with 3.0 because bad word nicknames can no longer be registered.
  7. Always give a reason for why you are kicking or punishing a user. Do not give insulting reasons. If someone is nude type /punish nickname no nudity.
  8. Nude users may be punished without being kicked. If the nude user comes back another day and you recognize their name then you can ban them permanently. If someone continues to be nude and abusive contact Camfrog at the email address on the contact page and we will ban that user from our central server permanently.
  9. Please report users distributing cracks or serial numbers to the Camfrog contact page so they can be banned permanently from our central server.
  10. If a user has a nude photo in his profile report "inappropriate content" by clicking the link in their profile with a reason next to it.

Room Rules for Users

  1. No nudity or requesting that others get nude.
  2. No disrupting the room with scrolling, microphone hogging, music, or spamming.
  3. Do not directly insult operators. (If a user says "America sucks" and you are from America and feel insulted this is not a direct insult. If a user says "you suck" then that is a direct insult. If users say "Camfrog sucks" you can kick them though.)
  4. No graphic sexual talk or sounds on microphone or in the chat room.
  5. Do not violate the Camfrog TOS.
  6. No four letter words (extremely bad language).

Helpful Hints

  1. /punish and /ban works by IP and nickname.
  2. To show a user why you kicked him is easy. If "Fred" was playing loud music you could type this: /kick fred stop playing loud music.
  3. Do not ask Spy or Frog to be an operator. To be an operator you must be recommended by another person who is already an operator. It is OK to recommend operators to Spy or Frog, but be sure they are trustworthy people or your recommendations might be ignored in the future.
  4. Camfrog is made to have fun! Relax!
  5. If someone is using profanity just to offend everyone in the room saying a bad word over and over that is a room disruption and they should be kicked, but if they say a bad word now and then offended users can ignore them easily by right clicking their name. If someone says "damn it" or accidentally says one four letter word do not kick or ban them. Users should be kicked once with a reason so they know that they were kicked for bad language before they are punished.
